On behalf of the Library, I want to thank Al Owen for his very hard work this past year as president of the Friends. During much of the year, Al served as both president and acting executive secretary; he was truly a tireless worker for the Friends of the Library.

Al developed a planning budget and arranged for an audit. The audit report was delivered at the annual meeting and the auditor noted that the Friends of the Library are a model organization from an accountant’s view; Al deserves a lot of credit for this compliment, especially in a year when so much money was given to the Friends. Both the budget and the audit help position the Friends to apply for future grants.

At the Library, we are proud of how hard the members of the Fowler Fundraising Taskforce worked to raise money for the new library; however, the Taskforce work turned into a lot of detailed paper work for the Friends of the Library! Finally, the Friends should be proud that they became an organization with $2 million in assets!
