Kit the Fresno County Library MascotKit the Fox is clever, curious and cool, and he’s the Library’s #1 fan!  In fact, Kit loves the Library so much that one day he volunteered to serve as the Library’s new goodwill mascot — and the rest is history!

Good news for Kindle fans! Now Kindle users can enjoy borrowing e-books at Fresno County Public Library. The Library offers roughly 2500 titles for Kindle and adds more all the time.

November 2011 ~ The Year in Review

As you read this the Holiday Season is fast approaching. I want to first start off by wishing each and every one of you the very best of the Holidays Season and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

As I look back at this last year the library system has undergone tremendous challenges and change and is a stronger organization as a result.

Our Accomplishments ~

We do have many accomplishments to our credit this year.

New Library Structure:

A job seeker’s luck improves after finding help at the library

Bernice (Kao) with Ronnie Littlejohn working on job seeking skills.

Ronnie Littlejohn spent the last 25 years of his life helping people navigate through the trials of bankruptcy. Thanks to the Gillis Branch Job Career Center’s One-on-One Job Coaching program, he’s successfully steering clear of those waters himself.

The Library just released "Facts About Measure B" and "Measure B Talking Points".  "Facts About Measure B" is a handout for the public available at all branch libraries. The half-sheet document contains facts to educate the public about the importance of the measure to library operations. The Friends of the Fresno County Public Library will be holding its annual business meeting on Saturday, Feb 11.

There will be election of new officers (board members), and a report about what Friends has done for the Fresno County Public Library system during the past year. Hear about the success of the Big Book Sale held at Sierra Vista Mall benefitting the library's Literacy Program and each of the Friends branch groups throughout the County.

With so many Friends groups, including the county-wide Friends of the Library group, it’s important to understand the relationship between the organizations and how we support each other.

Individual branches might each have their own Friends group, organized by members who are interested in supporting the library branch they frequent the most often. Then there’s the Fresno County Friends of the Library group, consisting of members whose support is in the interest of libraries county-wide, and not of any particular individual branch.
