2010 Annual Meeting a Success
The Annual Meeting of the Friends of the Fresno County Library took place on Saturday, February 27th at the Holiday Inn in downtown Fresno. The business meeting started at 11:00am with Friends President, Dusty Guthier welcoming over 50 members in attendance. The minutes from the 2009 Annual meeting were reviewed and voted in. Board treasurer, Brandon McAvoy covered the organizations financial statement stating the organization was in a solid position. Melissa Moridian announced the candidates for Board positions. The general membership voted in Nancy Kast, Donny Gill, Cathy Dunlap, and Susan Krikorian to serve a 3-year term effective February 28th, 2010. Board officers were also named for the upcoming year: Nancy Kast (President), Melissa Moridian (Vice President-Membership), Linda Beltramo (Vice President - Program), Brandon McAvoy (Treasurer), and Jane Bedrosian (Secretary). County Librarian Karen Bosch-Cobb highlighted the accomplishments over the past 10 years as a result of Measure B funding, and emphasized the need to increase membership in the Friends organization, and its importance in supporting the renewal of the sales tax measure in 2012. President Guthier presented the Friends of the Library Bookstore volunteers and staff the Library Leadership Award for outstanding work and dedication for 2009. Bookstore members Roberta Bell and Joan Lloyd accepted on behalf of the group. Finally, guest speaker, Dan Pessano entertained all by reliving some of his favorite theatrical moments. From the play "Our Town" to the musical "Fiddler on the Roof", he had the audiences attention from beginning to end. In closing, President Guthier thanked the general membership for their ongoing support to the organization and wished the new Board great success in 2010.
