It’s summer, which means it is time for the 2009 Summer Reading Program! Children, ages 0-12, can join the Be Creative @ Your Library program, while teens, ages 12-18, can join the Express Yourself @ Your Library program. The fun begins on June 15 and ends on August 9. All branches of the Fresno County Public Library, including the Community Bookmobile and the Literacy Services Center, will be participating in the summer reading program. The summer reading program has two components. First, for every book that children or teens read or have read to them, they will earn a prize (for up to three prizes). After they’ve read three books, they will be entered into a grand prize drawing for a $15.00 gift card from Barnes and Noble or Borders. The grand prizes will be awarded at the end of the summer. To sign up for the summer reading program, visit your local branch library or the library’s web site starting June 15. Secondly, each branch will be hosting FREE programs for children and teens during the summer reading program. Children’s performers include magician Gerald Joseph, E&M Reptiles, Juggler Isaac, magician Tony Blanco, musician Oklin Bloodworth, and more. Teen programs include poetry, photography, and painting workshops, gaming on Wiis and PlayStation 3s, and numerous craft programs. For a complete list of all programs check out the SRP program calendar. If you have any questions, please contact the Youth Services Division of the Fresno County Library at 559-488-3205.
